Phrases was born over two years ago, when Eden Barrie and Matt Evans discovered a successful writing dynamic together. With a unique sound, comfortably compared to Rex Orange County and Tom Misch, their Jazz, Funk and genre-bending sound is written, recorded and produced by themselves. Progressing as artists through playing at venues between Cardiff and Bristol, including the Clwb for Bach and spending many hours refining their craft in the studio, they now bring you their debut EP “Clarity”.

“Sideline”, the EP single, really is a product of the pandemic. The core or the song promotes not holding back, not waiting around but going for the things you want in life and making them happen. Poetically, it reflects much of our journey to release this. Evoking the feeling of confidence and being free, this new tune ultimately is a motivational mover.

Waiting, the second song on the album, is a groovy, fresh sounding song. with a relatable honest message. It’s cool tones provide a comfortable feel, that would ultimately fit into any chilled out setting or would bring a little boost to your rainy day playlists. And finally our last song.

As two Brits “Sad the suns gone” was a tag that stuck in our heads for a long time. With real feel good vibes and a huge sense of summer and freedom, it’s the perfect song for right now! This atmospheric tune is a great fit for any upcoming bbqs, friends weddings or trips to the beach and a uplifting end to our EP!
