Slyrex is on radio rotation with the tracks “Chaos Theory” and “Miami”.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Slyrex. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My story’s mostly about places. I was born in New York, but I grew up in Oklahoma. I spent the summers in Virginia and Michigan, so that’s where all my friends and firsts were. The last time I went to Ethiopia was the first time I recorded a song and also the last time I wasn’t Slyrex. In the ten years that followed, my life has been divine highs smash cut to devastating lows, and my music has been an experiment in hyper focus on the parts I remember most vividly when I close my eyes. Perfect Miami nights with Dallas girls. Lazy highs in Silver Spring days after almost dying at Norman functions. Road trips to the coast with extended family, wondering if we’d ever get where we were going. I still wonder.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
There’s a real pain in being unable to express who you are to the people around you. Immigrant parents speak a much more practical language than their dreamer children. There has been loss, death, heartbreak, uncertainty, and hopelessness in my and my family’s journey that I rarely speak about. Strangely, these parts are often beautiful too.

We’d love to hear more about the company.
Bad Faith is a production company that hosts virtuosic music and film talent, helmed by sharp executive minds. Our ranks are responsible for independently funded and distributed albums, short films, episodic series’, and merchandise – all means of production owned, executed and maintained by our ten members based in Norman, Oklahoma. Our sole mission statement and directive: Join the Faith.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up, my obsession was trying to understand how to create emotion – or at least elicit it. Drawing manga, writing stories, making videos with my siblings, penning poetry and creating music were all outlets I explored in the same pursuit. I wanted to figure out how to be heard and then how to be felt. But Vegeta was my only hero and music is still my only love.
