Joy and cheerfulness are two somewhat similar concepts, but they should not be confused. Cheerfulness is a moment of hilarity and euphoria, often prompted by something funny or pleasant. Joy, on the other hand, springs from the heart and holds a much deeper meaning.
This is the message Don Pasquale Ferone aims to convey in his latest piece, “Canta la Gioia,” (Sing The Joy) an unplugged song written and performed as a true hymn to joy. The joy Don Pasquale sings of is a gift from the Spirit of the Lord and must be cherished, nurtured, and shared.
The song is being released close to the Jubilee of 2025, which commenced on December 24. The gift of joy reflects the profound meaning of the word “Jubilee,” which is to live the holy year of Hope with exultation and happiness.
“Canta la Gioia” is both a joyful anthem and a call not to succumb to discouragement, for after a rainy day, the sun always shines again. With the strength of the Lord, who is ever by our side, we can face any challenge, sustaining the daily journey of those who trust in Him, with joy in their hearts. Don Pasquale Ferone has embraced a mission: spreading the word of the Lord through his music, which serves as a vessel of peace, joy, and love.
Originally from the province of Naples, Don Pasquale developed a strong passion for music from a young age, especially for composing songs with Christian inspiration. As a child, he attended church with his family, where he first learned the basics of music, picking up the guitar—his faithful companion for crafting Christian-themed lyrics to sing of God’s love.
By the age of 15, he had mastered the guitar and quickly became an animator for celebrations and charismatic prayer meetings in his parish. His spiritual journey was deeply influenced by the Catholic Charismatic Renewal, and at just 10 years old, he received the “Baptism in the Spirit.”
This experience strengthened his decision to pursue the path of priesthood. In 1998, he answered the Lord’s call, deciding to become a priest while continuing to nurture his passion for music.
Since 2017, Don Pasquale has been composing Christian-inspired music while serving as a parish priest in the province and outskirts of Naples. To date, he has created 49 songs, spreading messages of faith and hope through his music.
